Family Strands, made to order
Family Strands, made to order
A very special series … Family Strands. I was inspired to create these bracelets as a way to stay connected to our families, be they our family by blood or by choice.
In our current state of the world, as we look for creative ways to stay in touch with our loved ones, family bonds have been tested and stretched. I offer Family Strands as a way to share our love, maybe a way to open a conversation with an estranged family member, maybe an anonymous gift … whatever the circumstance or feelings, Family Strands are a tangible reminder that we are all connected, all beloved, all one.
I’m offering Family Strands in two versions: hand-braided, lightly waxed indigo dyed or unbleached linen cords, both with a red silk thread woven in … the red thread, the blood in our veins, that connects us all,
I’ve kept these as minimal as possible to make them more affordable. Each strand has a rustic fine silver link and bead with an adjustable fine silver slider, 10” adjusts down to 6”. 10” fits most hands, but please contact me if the cord needs to be longer.
I am making these to order, so turnaround times will be a bit longer … outside estimate of 7 days to ship, but hopefully sooner. With custom orders, my intention is that I'll be able to focus and weave in specific prayers and blessings for each strand. You can contact me for any special requests.
Each Strand will come with an info card explaining the intention and the inspiration of the Family Strands and the red thread.
I know that every little bit of light-filled love we share will soundly trounce the dark bits that want to creep in.
10” adjusts down.
Made to Order. Please allow 7-10 days for shipping.
Greetings beloveds, I think we can all agree, 2020 and especially the last few months have been challenging. But as my nephew Richie* always said, “everything is a blessing” … really hard to see sometimes, but ultimately always true. For me, the blessing has been my inspiration to make this series of bracelets, which I’m calling Family Strands.
The intention is that when we’re thinking of our family members and loved ones, when we’re chatting on the phone, or maybe when communication feels challenging, the bracelet can be a tangible way to connect and send love and light.
Family Strands are linen cord, either natural or that I’ve dyed with indigo and waxed with a block of beeswax that belonged to my Grampa and used in his shoe repair business … the block is probably 100 years old … deepening the family connections. The waxed indigo cord is braided with a waxed red silk thread. I associate indigo with the ‘higher realms’, intuition and angels; the red thread represents the blood in our veins that binds and connects us all. As I braid each strand, I’m focusing my intentions, weaving in prayers of love, healing and well-being.
They are my little token of hope and love.
I share these with great love, deep gratitude and light filled blessings …
*my nephew Richie passed away in 2018, a week before his 24th birthday, after a 5 year journey with brain cancer. He took on every treatment, every obstacle, every step forward or back with equal joy and gratitude. He believed to his very core that “everything is a blessing.” I am convinced that Richie was an angel on our earth to experience every possible thing and to show us how to be present with grace and gratitude. He is my ongoing inspiration.
