sensory explorations
Sometimes I feel all itchy . . . like my skin doesn't fit, it's too small and I'm on the verge of exploding.
Sometimes I'm overcome by a huge sense of urgency, a hunger for imagery and visual stimulation.
Sometimes I reach sensory overload and can't take in another thing.
Right now, I'm in that urgent place . . . kind of an exuberant feeling, about to bust with potential and ideas and things to share . . . thinking sharing is a good thing.
Have you ever seen Louise LeCavalier? Knowing she is still performing just about makes my day ...
My first encounter with Louise was in the '97 Michael Apted film, Inspirations. The raw passion and physicality of her movements blew me away then and have not lost their power now. Utterly breathtaking . . .
Hard to match the energy of these films, but that kind of raw beauty is an ongoing source of inspirational fuel . . .
Most days I look to objects and sites and books with a strong Japanese influence . . .
There's Pragmata Gallery, a young Greek man, Petros Titonakis, running a gallery in Japan that is the very essence of wabi-sabi. Pragmata offers a beautifully curated selection of objects presented with Petros' undeniable gift for display . . .
Sri Threads never fails to inspire . . .
Just perusing the pages at Habu Textiles makes me swoon with delight . . . loaded with rare and exquisite treasures.
But for one stop shopping and all things gorgeous, I can never go wrong with ABC Home . . . their Reveal Blog is always chock full of things interesting and insightful.
And then, of course, there's that other New York institution that ties it all together in a most exquisite fashion, Donna Karen's Urban Zen. Just scroll through their list of partners in the Soulful Marketplace and click on any one for a visual blast . . . Jason Ross, aka Artemas Quibble is a fave . . .
Hmmmmm, that might be enough for now . . . things to do, things to make, ideas to explore and thoughts to think.
