never say never . . .
I had gotten to where I was thinking I was mostly done with pursuing wholesale accounts. I still have a couple of accounts that have been with me since my days of working with sales reps. They place nice orders here and there, but for the most part, that aspect of my business has received virtually no attention. For a very long time, just the thought of filling an order with multiples of anything made me cringe.
Funny thing about me and my business and what I'm inspired to create and pursue, it's all very cyclical . . . I'll go for months and all I want to make is big and chunky tribal pieces, then it'll be chain ... I'll be obsessed with making chain, then maybe a brief foray into pinch pots and clay beads and back to tribal necklaces using those spiffy new clay beads. That's the really nice thing about not working primarily on wholesale . . . I just make whatever I bloody well feel like making. But designing or updating my wholesale collection . . . nope. So color me surprised when in the last few days I started getting nudges of inspiration to create a brand new wholesale capsule collection! Like the title says, "never say never." Turns out I'm finally accepting my work's focus is cyclical . . . it always has been, figuring it always will be . . . and that includes giving some love to wholesale.
So here's the fun thing, designing a new collection presents a nice opportunity to document it here. Just to get things going, I shot a little video of me making a few of the components for the as yet to be named collection. It got a bit longer than I was planning, but I rather like it. But first, here's a few close-ups of what you'll see me working on in the video . . .
a fresh new sketchbook and a fresh Ticonderoga #2.5 for plotting my strategy
teeny cubes drying on a steel forming rod
close-ups of what I'm making in the video
My intention is to post updates as the collection evolves. It's been a very long time since I ventured out into wholesale land, so it should be an interesting journey . . . hope you'll enjoy riding along with me.
with deep gratitude ... kvk
