a good day . . .

. . . and an excellent start to the new Urban Primitive Core collection.  This morning I nailed down the name and snazzy logo.  And through the day I've been working on the core components.  I always start with a whole bunch of components, whatever I'm inspired to make.  I have ideas and sketches for how I'm thinking I'll use each piece, but I rarely have it all planned out. 

When it comes to the actual assembly and real design, my process is always something of a compositional improvisation.  I like to take any given element and see how many ways I can use it . . . up, down, sideways, vertical or horizontal . . . in layers or solo, stacked or strung or linked . . . I never know until I get something that feels right.

I appear to be cube obsessed . . . there's a whole variety of them and some are going to be very teeny!  These are now heading to the kiln . . .

For now, this collection of elements is feeling very right.  It's been a very good day indeed!
