calculated risk ...

Have you noticed the new pics?  I am absolutely loving them.  Still learning my way around the new camera ... I've had a few excellent pointers from my big brother the pro about how to work around the lack of aperture range.  So to get those blurry backgrounds, I'm shooting from a bit of a distance, zooming in and using the macro focus.  Now I just need to switch from a center to a spot focus or maybe manual focus so I can get my objects a bit more off center.

These two just make me swoon ... and the whole slide show is such a lovely welcome to my site, n'est-ce pas?

I did put up a new selfie on my about page, but might need to go back and try again ... I'm standing kind of funny and the smile is sort of wonky.  And just so you know, I've been shooting all these images at the barn on the La Chua Trail of Payne's Prairie about 10 minutes from where I live.  This sign at the barn's entrance is always a bit unsettling and hanging out here feels like something of a calculated risk ...

I'm still getting used to the idea of being in close proximity to alligators ... might take some time to readjust.  That pre-teen bravado of feeding chocolate marshmallows to the local alligators in our creek has vaporized ... probably for the best.  As a wiser and somewhat wary adult, I'm just hoping they're not moving about much on these cool grey days.

Guess that's it for now ... website tweaks will continue, so stay tuned!
