further along ... w.i.p. catalog 14

I'm at that stage of the catalog where I need to remember to get up and walk around and stretch ... the computer layout process.  A few years ago, working at the computer for hours on end in a chilly winter studio, my right shoulder froze up.  I had virtually no range of motion and was in a fair amount of pain.  After an exceptionally long session with a massage therapist, hot soaks and lots of tender care, it returned to normal.  I do not want to repeat that discomfort!

But here I sit, doing a quick blog post to share my progress with Catalog 14 ... it would appear I possess a somewhat flat learning curve and am a glutton for punishment.  Okay, so I'll take a lunch/stretching break after I post this ... really, I promise!

Anyway, I still have a few more earrings to shoot, but I've got most of the catalog pictures done.  Taking those pictures is so much easier since I built my photo booth.  I love my photo booth ... a lot.  It is endlessly versatile and was super cheap to build.  Another great idea via Pinterest.

photo booth: pvc and cheap polyester fabric, about 15 bucks.  I can clip on backdrops, use all sorts of platforms for images, clip on lights in assorted places and the whole thing folds down flat

I've got kind of a standard format I use in my catalogs.  Nothing exotic, but hopefully straightforward and easy to read and understand.  I use Microsoft Publisher for all my desktop publishing things.  I've been using it for as long as I've had a computer and it suits my needs perfectly.  Not the fanciest program, but it's what I know and love.  Of course, this much focus requires massive amounts of hot tea!

Yes, I'm pretty old school in my design process ... I've pulled out a bunch of old catalogs for reference and printed out a contact sheet of new work

I've got a long way to go, so this will be me signing off to eat some lunch, stretch my shoulders and hips and try to warm up my very cold fingers ...
